Texas GOP voters prefer Gov. Ron DeSantis over former President Donald Trump to be their 2024 candidate, according to a recent poll made by CWS Research and commissioned by the Texas Republican Party.
The preference for DeSantis, who got 43% of the survey votes, to be the 2024 nominee reached 10 points of difference apart from the second choice, Donald Trump, who got 32%. Neither Ted Cruz nor Greg Abbott were mentioned in the poll. Other candidates mentioned in the poll were former Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Senator Tim Scott, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, all of whom got single-digit numbers of support in the poll.
CWS’ Research poll was designed to ask 1,099 demographically proportionate respondents who are likely to vote in the 2024 Texas primary through online surveys and interactive voice response calls. The survey’s margin of error was +/- 3 percentage points.
