Texas Sues Biden Administration For Cutting Texas Razor Wire At The Border

Texas sued the Biden administration as an effort to stop federal agents from cutting the razor wire placed at the border with Mexico.

According to a report by the Associated Press, Attorney General Ken Paxton accused the Biden administration of undermining the state’s border security efforts and of violating the state’s sovereignty.

“Texas has the sovereign right to construct border barriers to prevent the entry of illegal aliens,” Paxton said in a statement.

State officials began placing the razor wire in May at the border with Mexico near the Rio Grande.

Migrant and environmental advocates expressed concerns over the effects of the razor wire. There were reports about lacerated and injured migrants, with federal agents having to break through the wire to gain access to the entangled migrants.

The complaint also said the federal government illegally destroyed Texas property and disrupted the state’s border security efforts. According to this complaint, the gaps in the wire line would damage “Texas’s ability to effectively deter illegal entry into its territory.”

The razor wire is part of Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, aimed at stopping migrant crossings from Mexico to the US.
