Beto O’Rourke Condemns Texas Republicans For Lack Of Responsible Leadership During Blackouts

Beto O'Rourke and Greg Abbot

People in Texas are having a difficult time right now, the state is facing one of its worst winters ever, hitting record-low temperatures, deadly icy roads, and now, an energy crisis that has 4 million people without power all across the state.

State leaders and the ERCOT  Officials have been less than encouraging for the people, with many of them switching blame over political ideologies or simply saying they don’t know when power will be restored.

Former U.S. Rep. and presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke called out Texas Republicans, and especially Gov. Greg Abbott, for the way they have managed the current blackouts situation and the overall pressing matters lashing the state.

The Democrat expressed profound disappointment in the state leaders, who have been more focused on asking people for their papers or where people sing the national anthem rather than caring for those dying of COVID and facing deadly winter conditions without power.

“If you can’t do your most important job – protecting the lives of those you were sworn to serve – then get out of the way and give the power and resources to local leaders who are fighting with all they’ve got to get past your mess,” he tweeted.
