Beto O’Rourke Joins Willie Nelson On Stage

Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke was welcomed to the stage by iconic country artist Willie Nelson on his annual 4th of July picnic show last Monday.

O’Rourke and his 11-year-old son joined the musician, both playing the guitar, to sing the artist’s iconic hit single “On The Road Again”.

Willie Nelson in his long career as a musician, and now as an 89-year-old performer, stated that he has always believed in standing up for what’s right and what he believes in. For example, he has been an advocate for the legalization of marijuana.

Amid the tension that comes from the upcoming elections in November, in which O’Rourke competes against current Governor Greg Abbott, conservative and Republican in every sense, polls still show that Abbott has a small advantage over Beto. Still, these types of events show the amount of support that he has from the community, and a well-liked public figure like Willie Nelson.

Beto O’Rourke has been very critical of Greg Abbott’s actions, especially regarding the actions that followed the mass shooting in Uvalde, his stance on women’s reproductive rights, marijuana legalization, and LGBTQ youth rights.
