Twitter has been going crazy over this Artificial Intelligence tool, as it has become the best way to create bizarre, yet hilarious memes. You just type a short phrase describing an image, for example, Senator Ted Cruz dancing with a cow, and the algorithm will magically manifest it on your computer screen.

This has resulted in very strange, almost Uncanny Valley-esque images that are just real enough for your brain to fill in the gaps and accept as real. The creator of the tool, programmer Boris Dayma, says that he initially built it in July 2021 as part of a competition held by Google.

Dall-E Mini is pretty easy to use, but still sort of hit or miss as the programmers work on finessing common mistakes. It is most useful for abstract paintings and landscapes and still struggles with human faces and expressions.

Dayma explained that the model is still in training, so it has the ability to improve as it learns what works and what doesn’t to create its haunting images. The creator also stated that he thinks Dall-E will not only be useful for dark memes on the internet but to generate new ideas. There is also a warning stating that the tool can be wrongly used to “reinforce or exacerbate societal biases”.

In the meantime, the Internet has done what it knows best with a new trend: explore it beyond its limits. Some can serve to make social commentary, like the image of a “Fisher Price My First Bullet Proof Vest”, alluding to school shootings that happen in elementary schools and high schools and have become a cruel reality in American schools.

Others, though, just look to explore the bizarre and laugh at politicians that made people mad over their ignorance or apathy. What better way to get back at political figures than to make them kiss, like this image of Ted Cruz and ex-president Donald Trump making out.
