Trump Will Host A Rally In South Texas As Part Of The GOP Effort To Swing Districts

Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Robstown, outside Corpus Christi on Saturday, October 22, just two days before the start of early voting. Trump’s visit is part of the Republican strategy of targeting South Texas districts that traditionally vote for Democrats.

The campaign advisory told the Texas Tribune that there is an “unprecedented effort to advance the MAGA agenda by energizing voters and highlighting the slate of 33-0 Trump Endorsed America First candidates in the Great State of Texas.” That 33-0 rhetoric refers to the number of candidates Trump endorsed during the primary elections. Those endorsements include Gov. Greg Abbott, who is fighting Democrat Beto O’Rourke for a third term as Governor, and Monica de la Cruz, a Republican running for the seat of the Rio Grande Valley, a historically blue district that was taken by Republican in the last election.

Although Gov. Abbott was endorsed by Trump, Abbott’s campaign has not confirmed whether he is going to assist with Trump’s rally or not. The rally will start at 7 p.m. at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds.
