Billie Eilish Slams Texas Abortion Law during Show at Austin City Limits Festival

Austin City Limits started this weekend, but one of its biggest stars almost pulled out of the massive Texas music festival, just before her set on Saturday night: Billie Eilish

While she was performing, in the middle of her set, she slammed Texas’ controversial abortion law. The multiple Grammy winner commented during the show that she almost quit just before taking the stage on Saturday night.

“When they made that shit a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show,” the 19-year-old singer declared from the stage. “Because I wanted to punish this fucking place for allowing that to happen here. But then I remembered it’s you guys who are the fucking victims and you guys deserve everything in the world. And we need to tell them to shut the fuck up! My body, my fucking choice!”

Over the weekend, dozens of Texas communities, including Austin, conducted Women’s March protests against the law. The decision follows the decision of The Wire creator David Simon said that he will not film his next HBO limited series in Texas, as he had intended. 

This coming weekend, Eilish will perform her second set at ACL. Let’s see what she pulls out this time.
