Coming after news that Texas will receive 1.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to be distributed to health care workers, long-term care workers, and EMS providers among others, HEB has joined the ranks of over 4,000 other pharmacies and health systems to distribute the vaccine.
As the Houston Chronicle reported, HEB recently announced in a statement they “will partner with the federal and state government to administer the Covid-19 vaccine when it becomes available to the general public, following the CDC distribution schedule. H-E-B is proud to continue our long-term tradition of taking care of Texans.”
The Texas Department of State Health Services submitted its week 1 allocation of vaccines that will be shipping over 224,000 doses to 109 hospitals in 39 counties across Texas.
The distribution plan is based on DSHS Guiding Principles which prioritizes protecting healthcare workers, front line workers, and vulnerable populations.
