AOC Teaches Greg Abbott Biology 101

Texas has been the center of the biggest national polemic this past week thanks to a new abortion law that bans abortions later than six weeks and installs a new bounty hunter system that rewards people up to $10,000 if they tell on women getting abortions or people who aid them.

Senate Bill 8 (the name of the new abortion law), went into effect last Wednesday after the Supreme Court failed on its constitutional duties and allowed Texas to apply it. With these, Greg Abbott can now control women’s bodies and restrict their rights. The decision is not supported by the American people, as 59% believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases.

In a new video, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), one of America’s most important progressive leaders, lashed out at Greg Abbott for his declarations regarding the new bill. Abbott, without any knowledge whatsoever, claimed at a press conference that six weeks is plenty of time for women to get an abortion if they want one.

“I do know that he is not familiar with a female or menstruating person’s body because if he [was], he would know you don’t have six weeks,” Alexandria called out as she then proceeded to explain the basic biology surrounding pregnancies, and that many pregnancies are often undetected at six weeks.

“In case no one has informed him before in his life, six weeks pregnant means two weeks late on your period. And two weeks late on your period, for any person with a menstrual cycle, can happen if you’re stressed, if your diet changes, or for really no reason at all. So you don’t have six weeks.” Ocasio-Cortez answered back to Abbott’s lies. She has been really active regarding the new abortion ban. Last week she started a fundraising campaign to help NGOs help women who wanted to get an abortion.

Abbott also promised to rid the state of all rape and sexual assault while defending the radical new law and its absence of exemptions for victims of sexual abuse. AOC fired back at Greg’s comments, stating: “The majority of people who are raped or are sexually assaulted are assaulted by someone that they know. These aren’t just predators that are walking around the streets at night.”
The Department of Justice pledged on Monday to “defend the constitutional rights of women and other individuals, including access to an abortion,” as the country’s most extreme abortion law continues to meet opposition all over the United States.
