Former President Trump may have run short on votes, but if there’s something the mob directing twice impeached president wasn’t lacking, was money.
According to his campaign finance reports, Trump managed to raise a record-shattering $61.6 million in his re-election campaign, and that’s just from individual donors in the state of Texas.
The Houston region proved to be a strong backer of the Trump campaign, providing an astonishing $14 million, only $2 million less than Trump biggest donor city: LA. Plus, it’s worth noting those donations do not include money from political action committees in the state, many strongly tied to the oil and gas industry.
The Federal Election Commission records show that the GOP candidate got at least twice what the Democrat candidate, Joe Biden, raised in the state.
Unlike his 2016 campaign, where Trump had to rely on his personal fortune to pay for his presidential run, the magnate focused on getting money from the american people this time. He made 19 visits to the Lone Star State, many of them to hold fund-raising rallies.
Unsurprisingly, Biden’s strong environmental agenda didn’t sit well with many wealthy people in Texas, especially for those who have built their fortunes around the oil industry.
“Texans would never vote for Biden’s radical agenda, including a call to end the oil industry by 2025,” said Samantha Zager, the deputy national press secretary for the Trump campaign.
