Seventeen states have joined Attorney General Ken Paxton’s longshot case seeking to block Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia from casting their electoral votes.
All the states that announced they are backing the lawsuit are states in which President Trump won the popular vote: Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia.
Paxton, who is currently under investigation by the FBI and has been under indictment for securities fraud for the past half decade seems to be doing nothing to shy away from the spotlight.
Based on the fact that legal experts are saying this case is “preposterous,” the only logical explanation for this blatant disregard for democracy is Paxton hoping to do enough of President Trump’s bidding to earn a presidential pardon.
This lawsuit comes after the four states certified their election results, and officials in those states say this is a “publicity stunt.”
