Texas GOP Head Allen West and Ted Cruz Among Trump’s Worst Enablers

President Trump’s days at the white house are officially numbered, and so is the influence of many of the people surrounding him. Last Friday, The Bulwark published a list of the president’s “worst enablers”, and two prominent figures from Texas are included in it.

The stinging publication was made by CNN commentator Amanda Carpenter, Ted Cruz’s former press secretary, and she gave her old boss the number seven spot on her list. Last July, Cruz made some controversial predictions regarding the pandemic and the elections, saying if Biden were to get elected, democrats would declare the crisis over. “[I] guarantee you, the week after the election, suddenly all those Democratic governors, all those Democratic mayors, will say, ‘Everything’s magically better. Go back to work, go back to school.”

He went as far as to say democrats were “willing” to “destroy people’s lives and livelihoods” in order to make Trump look bad. Needless to say, the not-so-well-intended prediction has been proven tragically wrong, with the number of COVID cases and deaths alarmingly rising during the holiday season.

The second Texan receiving a mention in Carpenter’s list was Allen West, Texas GOP head and former Florida congressman. The retired lieutenant colonel earned the no. 3 spot thanks to his recent appearance in the news where he got slammed after suggesting that states who supported Paxton’s lawsuit, should form a Union

“…Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution,” West said in a statement.

The number one spot went to Vice President Mike Pence after his role in downplaying the pandemic and ignoring international health recommendations regarding the COVID-19 crisis.
