Former Longhorn, Charles Omenihu, Bullies the Dallas Cowboys in Texas NFL Game Showdown

On the day of his birthday, Charles Omenihu had a magical night against the Dallas Cowboys, earning him his first game ball of his career.

Charles entered the NFL in 2019. He was a 5th round pick in that year’s NFL draft by the Houston Texans. He hasn’t received enough attention during his first two seasons, but he has been a consistent defensive lineman who can disrupt plays and pressure the QB. On Sunday, he finally showed the world what he is capable of.

The former Texas Longhorn is ready to take the next step. In 2020, he played 49 percent of the overall defensive snaps and recorded a career-high 16 quarterback hits and four sacks. In the second preseason game for the Houston Texans and his first, Omenihu racked up 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovery. He was able to constantly pressure the Dallas offensive line.

The Texans ended up winning the game, thanks to an incredible performance by Houston’s defense, ending up with four sacks, one strip-sack, two interceptions and one pick six by Lonnie Johnson Jr., another draftee from 2019.
