Brady and Bruce Arians were the oldest quarterback and head coach duo to lead a Super Bowl-winning team, similar to Biden, who is the oldest person ever elected president.
“As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing wrong with being the oldest guy to make it to the mountaintop,” Biden said.
Brady, who has won seven Super Bowls in his 20-year NFL career, did not accompany his Patriot teammates to the White House in 2017. At the moment he claimed it was for family matters, but this angered Mr. Trump reportedly.
Mr. Biden praised the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for overcoming a shaky start to make the playoffs and then win the Super Bowl in a season marked by a unique set of challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic. He also implored all players present at the White House to get vaccinated, in case they weren’t.
