Kamala Harris Endorses Beto And Calls Upon Texans To Protect Reproductive And Voting Rights

Vicepresident Kamala Harris visited Texas’ capital and talked about a lot of political issues that concern the Lone Star State, including abortion access and reproductive rights. Ahead of the election this November, Harris called the Texas abortion ban “immoral” and urged Texans to protect abortion access and women rights. 

According to the Texas Tribune, Harris’ visit to Texas was part of the State Democrats’ fundraising efforts that ended with a discussion in the LBJ Presidential Library at the University of Texas at Austin. There, Harris issued the importance of voting for a governor and a prosecutor that support abortion access, but also she pointed out that local elections are as relevant as the gubernatorial race. 

“It’s going to matter who your county prosecutor is if you live in a place where there’s a state law that has criminalized doctors and nurses and health care providers”, she said.  Harris also shared that the U.S. Department of Justice is working with state attorneys general to ensure Americans have a right to travel but “not the one in Texas”.

In the fundraising campaign, Harris directly blamed the GOP for removing women’s liberty and she also addressed Greg Abbott  calling his administration “most radical, most anti-women in the country.” 

Finally, she endorsed Beto O’Rourke for governor and highlighted Biden’s achievements.
