From September 30 to October 30, Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke was able to raise $10.5 million dollars. This grants him a total of $77 million dollars, making Beto’s campaign the most financially successful Democrat effort in Texas since 1994.
But although Beto O’Rourke’s raising surpassed Abbott’s, the GOP candidate nearly doubles the amount of the Democratic effort. Abbott has raised $143 million in his bid to win a record-tying third term as governor.
Both candidates have raised a total of $220 million dollars, a record-breaking amount of money for a gubernatorial race. Also, both candidates still have millions of dollars available to invest during these last days before election day. According to The Houston Chronicle, Abbott still has $3.7 million left in his campaign while Beto has $4.2 million left.
