Donald Trump To Testify In New York Investigation

Ex-president Donald Trump and his kids, Donald Jr. Trump and Ivanka Trump are tentatively set to testify as part of an investigation in New York regarding one of Trump’s companies.

A court filing on Wednesday revealed the preset date is July 15th. The agreement to justify is conditional by Donald, Donald Jr., and Ivanka Trump. The date may be postponed if a New York state appeals court “issues a stay of a judge’s order that the Trumps must answer questions under oath by investigators for Attorney General Letitia James”, according to CNBC News.

This is the latest update from James’s three-year innvestigation into Trump’s company and his dealings. Prior to this, the former president tried to stop her investigation and had to pay a $110,000 fine for it.

According to James, the investigation until now has enough information to prove wrongdoing during his presidency and in years prior, as well as continuing to look into the possibility of the Trump Organization misstating the values of its real estate properties to obtain favorable loans and tax deductions.

The Trump Organization is currently under Donald Trump Jr.’s management, along with his brother Eric Trump. Ivanka Trump is a former executive at the company.

Although numerous lawyers from the family have tried to block a subpoena for their testimony to James, they have been unsuccessful until this moment. The lawyers have also attempted to block several demands for information on the company.

The Trumps have until Monday to ask the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, to stay the order for the testimony, according to the stipulation filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday.

If nothing changes, each Trump will be questioned separately on July 15, in the hopes of concluding that same week. None of the testimonies will be conducted in public.

Trump, in very much Trump fashion, has stated that this investigation is unconstitutional. He has denied any illegal actions in his company and called James’s actions a personal “witch-hunt” against him.
