Sarahi Bahari, a reporter from The Dallas Morning News, found out that Gapped Bass LLC, an affiliate of Elon Musk’s The Boring Company, has filed paperwork with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality seeking permission to throw around 42,500 gallons of treated wastewater per day on land near the Colorado River.
Gapped Bass move follows the relocation of Musk’s The Boring Company and Tesla headquarters to Texas. Last year, Gapped Bass bought 73 acres in Bastrop County and although in the paperwork related to these wastewaters there is not any mention to Musk’s The Boring Company, Sarahi Bahari notes that listings for the limited liability company show it is managed by Boring Company President Steve Davis and features Boring Company Corporate Controller Adam Pashaian as a registered agent.
Any discharge of treated wastewater into or adjacent to water in Texas must be authorized by the state’s environmental agency. Wastewater treatment removes pollutants so that water can be reused, but the Environmental Protection Agency has said there is potential for trace levels of contaminants to remain.
