Former Texans Defensive Star J.J. Watt Donates Technology Centers for Children’s Association

After being cut early this year by the Houston Texans, and currently living in Arizona and playing for the Cardinals, J.J. Watt continues to issue support for the children of marginalized communities in Houston. The former three times defensive player of the year recently donated six technology centers for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. 

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston is a regional youth development organization. They were founded in 1952 as The Variety Boys Club and help kids who commonly live in the midst of chaotic, dangerous neighborhoods and have limited positive relationships to keep them on track to graduate from high school. They provide meals, strong role models, homework assistance, organized athletics, character development, and access to the arts to these kids. 

Drafted in 2011, and becoming one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players since his sophomore season, J.J. Watt has devoted a lot of help to the city of Houston. After the disaster of Hurricane Harvey, he created a foundation and relief program that helped clean, rebuild and repair over 1,100 homes, rebuild and repair over 900 childcare centers and after school programs that serve more than 100,000 children and multiple other things. After his work, he won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, the NFL’s most prestigious recognition for out of the field humanitarian performance.
