On a podcast interview with British comic and actor Russel Brand, Matthew McConaughey criticized both sides of the political aisle for being too far apart on issues.
The 51 year old actor who recently made headlines for considering running for governor said there are those on the far left that “absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards that other 50 percent.”
McConaughey went on to say, “many people, I’m sure you saw it, in our industry, when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that it was real. Some of them were in absolute denial.”
Blaming the right’s fraudulent claims of election fraud on fake news, he said, “now you’ve got the right that’s in denial, because their side has fake news. And I understand, they’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense.”
McConaughey has since walked back his statements about running for governor stating, “Right now, no. I don’t get politics…politics seems to be a broken business, politics needs to redefine its purpose.”
